Head of Secondary

JOB PURPOSE

The Area Principal contributes to the fulfilment of the school’s Purpose,

Direction, and Values by applying leadership, supervisory, and

administrative skills in order to create a positive and professional culture

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Performance

  • Set and enforce rigorous standards for student achievement that are in line with the goals of International College.
  • Ensure the academic program establishes and meets or exceeds yearly individual student outcomes.

Organization Leadership

  • Develop area goals and objectives consistent with International College’s strategic plan.
  • Lead teachers and instructional staff in developing a healthy
  • School culture aligned with the purpose, direction and values of International College
  • Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork and collaboration among the staff, teachers, students and families.
  • Ensure appropriate standards of student behavior,  performance,and attendance.
  • Identify and develop area systems, protocols and procedures to improve effective and efficient operations, safety and well-being, and teacher and student performance.

Instructional Leadership

  • Manage, evaluate, supervise and develop the area staff, holding them accountable for performance standards.
  • Ensure the use of effective, research-based teaching methodologies and practices.
  • Implement data-driven instructional practices and lead discussions about student performance.
  • Provide high quality curricular training and resources to staff.
  • Develop scope and sequence maps of essential knowledge and skills for each subject at each grade level. Complement this work with the development of common assessments to be applied as the mid and end of year evidence markers of the essential learning acquired.

Operational Leadership

  • Ensure compliance with Uruguyan Ministry of Education regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with NAE’s policies, procedures and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and expectations
  • Budget development and management.

Personnel

  • Assist the Head of School and the HR Department in recruiting, selecting and performance appraisal

Community Relations

  • Support the institutional position in a professional manner and promote constructive forward movement.
  • Serve as liaison between teachers, parents, and the community.
  • Exhibit a high degree of professionalism in all elements of this position
  • Develop and maintain positive school/community relations by assisting the Head of School in the promoting/marketing of the school and its priorities to the community.
  • Communicate school information, goals, student learning and behavior expectations to the community by using effective communication techniques with students, teachers, parents and stakeholders.

Qualifications/Training

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an international school with IBDP & IGCSE program
  • Minimum earned master’s degree and/or recognized Certification (e.g. PTC) in Education Administration and/or Leadership
  • Bilingual Spanish/English native speaker
  • Proficiency in computer applications (e.g. MS Office).

Experience / Knowledge

  • Minimum of three (3) years of administrative supervisory or management experience is preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful, full-time, classroom teaching experience
  • Previous International-American school experience.

JOB PURPOSE

The Student Advisor (Adscripto/a) is responsible for supporting, guiding, and supervising students, collaborating with the School Leadership in academic and disciplinary management, promoting a positive institutional climate, and ensuring compliance with internal regulations and the provisions of the Uruguayan education system.

Como Técnico Prevencionista Certificado será responsable de desarrollar, implementar y supervisar programas de salud y seguridad ocupacional para garantizar el cumplimiento de las normativas locales e internacionales. Su función principal será prevenir riesgos laborales, promover una cultura de seguridad y asegurar un ambiente de trabajo seguro para todos los empleados.

Como Supervisor/a de Seguridad será responsable de planificar, coordinar y supervisar el servicio de seguridad del colegio, garantizando la protección integral de estudiantes, personal, familias, visitantes e instalaciones. Asegura el cumplimiento de los protocolos internos y la normativa vigente, promoviendo un entorno escolar seguro y organizado.

  • Responsabilidades Principales de Técnico Prevencionista

    • Realizar inspecciones en el lugar de trabajo y evaluaciones de riesgos para identificar peligros.

    • Desarrollar e implementar medidas preventivas y procedimientos de seguridad.

    • Garantizar el cumplimiento de las normativas de salud y seguridad ocupacional vigentes.

    • Investigar accidentes e incidentes laborales y elaborar informes detallados.

    • Impartir capacitaciones y programas de concientización en seguridad.

    • Mantener actualizada la documentación, registros y certificaciones de seguridad.

  • Responsabilidades Principales

    Control de Accesos y Vigilancia

    • Controlar y supervisar los ingresos y egresos del establecimiento.

    • Solicitar y verificar identificación de visitantes, registrando su ingreso según protocolo.

    • Supervisar horarios de entrada y salida de estudiantes.

    • Realizar recorridas periódicas por las instalaciones (aulas, patios, estacionamiento, perímetro).

    Prevención y Seguridad

    • Detectar e informar situaciones sospechosas o riesgos potenciales.

    • Actuar ante incidentes o emergencias siguiendo los protocolos institucionales.

    • Colaborar en simulacros y procedimientos de evacuación (incendio, emergencia médica, etc.).

    • Desinfectar superficies, mobiliario y áreas de alto contacto.

    • Reponer insumos de higiene (papel, jabón, alcohol, etc.).

    • Gestionar correctamente los residuos según las normas establecidas.

    • Informar sobre necesidades de mantenimiento o reparaciones.

    • Colaborar en limpiezas profundas durante recesos o actividades especiales.
