About IC
International College (IC) was founded in 2017 and is both a Uruguayan and an international school. IC has students and staff from over 30 different countries and cultures, but the majority are predominantly South American.
IC is a secular, bilingual school, teaching in both English and Spanish. Spanish, being the mother tongue of the great majority of IC students, is the language most widely used in social situations. There is a growing percentage of students from outside the continent, which means there is a rich and varied community.
The school governance consists of the Shareholders, as well as the Board of Governors. The school is led by the Head of School (HoS), who reports directly to the Board Chair. The HoS directly leads the three Heads of the sections and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

IC is one school, but for organisational purposes has three sections: Primary, Secondary and Administration.
Primary and Secondary each have their Head. Early Years (EY) is part of Primary, and Early Year classes are named from EY2 to EY5. Primary begins with Year 1 and finishes with Year 6. Secondary begins with Year 7 and ends with Year 12, who are the graduating class.
The third section is Administration, which is led by the Administrator and includes all the invaluable non-academic staff who help make the school run smoothly.

Students also perform annual plays or musicals in the Arena, which has a flipped stage specifically for this purpose, as well as for hosting ceremonies and assemblies. The school has its own IC Band. IC has a strong Model United Nations (MUN) programme, which participates in activities both in Uruguay and outside the country.
IC has a House system with four Houses. These are Aqua, Ignis, Terra and Ventus, which are the four elements in Latin. Each student is placed in a House and there are regular sporting, academic, artistic and cultural competitions for students to enjoy.
Students graduating from IC have been accepted in universities in Uruguay, as well as, other countries in South America, the United States and Europe. The title of the school song is ‘The Future in Our Hands’, and our vision is that all of our students will leave the school with the necessary skills to pursue the next stages of their lives.

IC Anthem
International College's anthem, ‘The Future in Our Hands’, was created in 2017 by the famous British rock singer, songwriter and producer, Clive Nolan.
In one of his visits to Punta del Este, Clive was introduced to IC’s project. The connection he felt with our vision and the voices of our students inspired him to create our meaningful anthem.
