What curriculum do we use, what calendar do we follow, and what are the class schedules?
International College is an authorised school in Uruguay. We follow the national curriculum established by ANEP and complement it with international content from Early Years, preparing our students for the international IGCSE and IB curriculum, which are taken in the last four years of Secondary School.
Our academic calendar follows the ANEP calendar, so classes begin in February and end in December.
International College is a compulsory full-day school from Early Years 4 (EY4). In Early Years 2 (EY2) and Early Years 3 (EY3), families can opt for a shift or double schedule.

- Early Years 4-5: 8:30 AM-12:00 PM & 1:00 PM-4:15 PM
- Early Years 2-3: 8:45 AM-12:00 PM & 1:00 PM-4:15 PM
- Primary: 8:30 AM-4:20 PM
Secondary: 8:20 AM-4:20 PM
How are English and Spanish applied to the different levels?
From Early Years 4 and throughout Primary School, students have a Spanish teacher in one shift and an English teacher in the other. Additionally, they participate in various specialised activities such as music, chess, drama, physical education and sports.
The subjects' schedules in English and Spanish are integrated within the Secondary School, as students have different teachers depending on the subject, whether from the national or international curriculum.
How many hours of physical education and sports do students have per week?
In Early Years, the number of hours varies depending on the level. In Primary School, students have five hours of physical education and sports weekly. In Secondary, students have four hours per week (Y7-Y10).
What artistic activities does the school offer?
- Music: Early Years 2 through Year 12.
- Theatre:Forms part of the Primary School curriculum and is offered as an extracurricular activity in Secondary School.
- Visual Arts: Included in the Primary and Secondary School curriculum.
How is technology integrated into the classroom?
Starting in Year 1, students bring a tablet, and from Year 3 onwards, a laptop. However, technology serves as a supplementary tool within our pedagogical approach, focusing on the students and their cognitive development. It is utilised to access various educational platforms, encouraging active and meaningful learning.

Is it mandatory to take the IGCSE and IB Diploma?
All Year 9 and Year 10 students must take the IGCSE curriculum in the six compulsory subjects and one elective. When taking exams in Year 10, students are expected to take at least three IGCSE subjects.
In the case of the IB Diploma Programme, it is mandatory to take the “Bachillerato Integrado” in Year 11. At the beginning of Year 12, students can continue with the “Bachillerato Integrado” and thus accredit the IB Diploma Programme and the national programme, or choose to leave the “Bachillerato Integrado” and take "3ro EMS CSH-UCA Matemática" in the national programme.

What accreditations does the school have?
International College is an IB World School, offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, authorised since August 23, 2018, under code 060341.
In addition, IC is a Cambridge School. The school is an official Cambridge exam centre, and within our proposal, we prepare the Cambridge IGCSE.
It is also a member of AUCBI (Asociación Uruguaya de Colegios Bachilerato Internacional) and ACCBIRP (Asociación de Colegios del Bachillerato Internacional del Río de la Plata).
Concerning the Uruguayan national curriculum, all International College Secondary levels are officially authorised by the DGES (Dirección General de Educación Secundaria).
