JOB PURPOSE
The Principal Area contributes to the fulfillment of the school's Purpose,
Direction, and Values by applying leadership, supervisory, and
administrative skills in order to create a positive and professional culture
and climate in the Area, that ensures the cognitive, emotional, and physical development of every student, as well as the professional development of all members of the faculty and staff.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Performance
- Establish and enforce rigorous standards for student achievement that are consistent with the goals of International College.
- Ensure that the academic program establishes and meets or exceeds yearly individual student outcomes.
Organizational Leadership
- Develop area goals and objectives consistent with International College's strategic plan.
- Lead teachers and instructional staff in developing a healthy
- School culture aligned with the purpose, direction, and values of International College
- Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and collaboration among staff, teachers, students, and families.
- Ensure appropriate standards of student behavior, performance, and attendance.
- Identify and develop area systems, protocols, and procedures to improve effective and efficient operations, safety and well-being, and teacher and student performance.
Instructional Leadership
- Manage, evaluate, supervise, and develop the area staff, holding them accountable for performance standards.
- Ensure the use of effective, research-based teaching methodologies and practices.
- Implement data-driven instructional practices and lead discussions about student performance.
- Provide high-quality curricular training and resources to staff.
- Develop scope and sequence maps of essential knowledge and skills for each subject at each grade level. Complement this work with the development of common assessments to be applied as mid-year and end-of-year evidence markers of the essential learning acquired.
Operational Leadership
- Ensure compliance with Uruguayan Ministry of Education regulations.
- Ensure compliance with NAE's policies, procedures, and objectives.

- Budget development and management.
Personnel
- Assist the Head of School and the HR Department in recruiting, selecting, and performance appraisal.
Community Relations
- Support the institutional position in a professional manner and promote constructive forward movement.

- Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in all aspects of this position.
- Develop and maintain positive school/community relations by assisting the Head of School in promoting/marketing the school and its priorities to the community.
- Communicate school information, goals, student learning, and behavior expectations to the community by using effective communication techniques with students, teachers, parents, and stakeholders.
Qualifications/Training
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an international school with IBDP & IGCSE program
- Minimum earned master's degree and/or recognized certification (e.g., PTC) in education administration and/or leadership
- Native bilingual Spanish/English speaker
- Proficiency in computer applications (e.g., MS Office).
Experience / Knowledge
- A minimum of three (3) years of administrative supervisory or management experience is preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful, full-time, classroom teaching experience
- Previous International-American school experience.

English Coordinator – Elementary
JOB PURPOSE
The Primary English Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for leading and supporting the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of all curriculum taught in English throughout the primary school.
This role ensures coherence, consistency, and high-quality teaching and learning across all classrooms, while working in close and continuous collaboration with the Primary Spanish Coordinator. A key component of the role is providing ongoing instructional coaching and support to teachers, ensuring strong classroom practices and positive student outcomes.

Pedagogical and Educational Leadership
• Lead the design, planning, and continuous refinement of the English curriculum across all Primary grade levels.
• Ensure alignment and coherence across English Language development and content subjects taught in English.

• Monitor curriculum delivery to ensure quality and consistency across classrooms and grade levels.
• Collaborate with other curriculum leaders to ensure cross-curricular integration and coherence.
