IGCSE at International College
Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16-year-olds. IGCSE stands for “International General Certificate of Secondary Education” and it is a programme aligned with the standards of the GCSE qualification taken in the UK.
Why are IGCSEs important?
First and foremost, the IGCSEs offer excellent preparation for further academic study, both in the next stage of their education, the IB Diploma Programme, as well as in their stage through University. At the same time, the IGCSEs also focus on skills needed to succeed in life such as creative thinking, enquiry and problem-solving.
Depending on the subject, the IGCSE develops subject understanding and skills in:
• Subject content.
• Applying knowledge and understanding to new as well as familiar situations.
• Intellectual enquiry.
• Flexibility and responsiveness to change.
• Working and communicating in English.
• Influencing outcomes.
• Cultural awareness.
