Community Engagement

Research studies show multiple benefits to children, their families and the school when parents volunteer and get involved with the school.

Communication between adults and children improves, increases the overall academic success of students, and creates a positive, cooperative and inclusive atmosphere. At International College, volunteering plays a vital role in enriching the children's educational experience.

In our commitment to holistic education and open approach, we seek to participate in a wide range of activities within our local community to benefit all involved.

Our students interact with students from other schools through activities, for example, the Model United Nations Conference and numerous other major projects; as well as local community campaigns, such as Winter Drive, in which we collect clothing for children and families in Punta del Este.

We also run the CAS project as part of the IB Diploma Programme. We also have within the school a committee called ICare that runs the Social Responsibility Programme, which aims to foster generosity, empathy and a sense of cooperative spirit within our school community.

The school has a good reputation within the community for the quality of its student programmes and receives regular invitations to participate in external events. International College has been from its earliest days an outward-looking school, where active involvement in the local community, and more distant communities abroad, have been a constant and defining aspect of its young history.
