LAMUN CONFERENCE 2025

LAMUN CONFERENCE 2025

This year’s two-day (25th and 26th April 2025) LAMUN conference was an enriching and enjoyable event for all involved. The opening ceremony began with an inspiring speech from Martin Green, the British ambassador in Uruguay, setting the stage for the days ahead.

Breaks were filled with lively conversations as delegates gathered around tables stocked with snacks and drinks. A fun karaoke session at lunchtime added a light-hearted touch, giving students the chance to relax and connect beyond the formalities of the event.

Within the committees, the enthusiasm was evident. Delegates demonstrated impressive research skills about topics centred on the conference motto “United in dialogue, stronger in action” and debated actively, forming alliances and rivalries while working towards impactful resolutions. Experienced participants were reunited with friends from past conferences, while newcomers formed fresh connections. The mix of spirited discussions and friendly interactions highlighted the unique sensation of MUN.

The closing ceremony, however, was the highlight of the event. Heartfelt speeches reflected on the achievements of the conference, followed by the grand entrance of the flag ambassadors. Finally, the band delivered an energetic performance that left a lasting impression. LAMUN 2025 not only challenged students intellectually but also brought them together in meaningful and memorable ways.

24 students went from IC (ten from year 11, nine from year 10 and five from year 9). Emma M., who is the new Secretary General for the ICMUN club, led the group while Luca C., who is the club’s President of the General Assembly, was the flag bearer. Most of the IC delegates have a great deal of experience, especially the eight who went to THIMUN in the Netherlands this summer, but some delegates had never been to any conference before, like Julia G., Catalina T., Nicole D. and Maia P.

We are already looking forward to the next conference, CMUN, which will take place at Colegio Crandon, Montevideo, in two weeks!
