Early Years

We cultivate children's natural curiosity and creativity, supporting their integral development and skills that open the doors to learning.

First Steps in Learning and Growth

Teachers at IC specialise in working with the students’ natural curiosity and creativity, fostering responsibility and organisation from a young age.

The School offers a comprehensive curriculum in which the physical, emotional and social aspects, as well as the ethical and aesthetic, are developed holistically. The curriculum sets the foundations for inquiry and understanding to take place, strengthens self-esteem, and improves language skills in Spanish and English. Students are immersed in Jolly Phonics, a fun child-centred approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics and multisensory activities.

In Psychomotricity and Body Expression classes, we work to promote early emotional and intellectual development. The objective is to encourage progress in motor skills and language and to support the harmonious growth of the student’s personality.

Early Years musical activities are focused on generating and sustaining children's bond with music. Through auditions, songs, online music programmes, sound investigations, and practice with instruments and sounds and movements arrangements, we work on the contents of the music curriculum, coordinating with other areas to strengthen and address the contents of the general curriculum.

Physical Education (PE) begins at age three with an Early Education Project (PET). At an early age, it is used as an educational tool, teaching values, and stories such as camaraderie, diversity, solidarity and teamwork, inside and outside the class. At the same time, it allows students to know and value their bodies, explore and enjoy their motor skills, and learn to organise their free time. By the age of five, children are introduced to sports in disciplines such as Hockey, Football and Rugby, among others.

Through a structured and organised plan, respecting our national Physical Education programme, we work on activities with great recreational content, so that students enjoy each class.

Early Years 5 also has subjects such as Chess and Robotics, which promote strategic thinking and coding.
