LAMUN
The event LAMUN (Latin America Model United Nations) at British Schools Montevideo is one of the leading MUN conferences in South America.
Model United Nations is an invaluable experience for international schools, as it highlights the best groups of students and exposes them to a challenging and authentic simulation of the United Nations. At this event, students from International College demonstrated their skills in diplomacy, research, collaboration, and public speaking. Our outstanding MUN team achieved numerous successes:
- Sienna S. successfully drafted a resolution, which was then debated in the ECOSOC committee.
- Guillermo Heber co-sponsored a resolution on the Venezuelan refugee and migrant crisis in Latin America, helping to ensure its passage to the General Assembly.
- Luca C. played a key role in the negotiations, helping to consolidate several draft resolutions into a joint proposal.
- Emma M. delivered a very strong opening address that set the tone for the initial discussion on reducing the environmental impact of infrastructure and the development of artificial intelligence.
- Rafaela C. proposed an amendment that was adopted and strengthened the final resolution.
- Mencia S. worked with other delegates to build consensus on the lack of access to reproductive health services for women in the MENA region, thereby strengthening diplomatic cohesion within the committee.
- Lorenzo D. received the award for Best Delegate at GA1.
- Emma M. received the award for Best Parliamentary Procedure at ECOSOC.
- Daniel F. served as Head Chair, effectively moderating the discussions and maintaining procedural order throughout the conference.
In addition, our media officers, Carola M. and Lola Y., provided excellent coverage of the prestigious two-day event in the nation’s capital.
